Taking Tiger Woods by the tail: globalisation, amnesia and social education

In this paper the author analyses two discourses associated with the processes of globalisation in Australian media advertisements. The author highlights two conflicting ways of theorising globalisation, describes the place of 'amnesia' in everyday experiences of globalisation, and proposes some critical educational responses to the discourses of globalisation. The author argues that the adulation of Tiger Woods is a striking example of globalised cultural and economic practices.
