NCVER cannot and does not grant any permission or authority in respect of the copyright in the materials appearing at third party internet sites including those where people may create or post user-generated content.

NCVER undertakes to maintain the information on VOCEDplus for as long as is reasonable and possible, but gives no guarantee of enduring access.

Digitisation and open access

NCVER is committed to acknowledging and protecting the copyright ownership of digitised content on the VOCEDplus website whilst expanding access to items not 'born digital'. Digitisation and presentation on the web constitutes 'republication' and therefore requires the permission of copyright holders. NCVER has developed a procedure for determining copyright ownership and for obtaining the permission of copyright owners:

  • NCVER will not digitise work available commercially 'for sale'
  • NCVER will make a 'reasonable effort' to locate the copyright owner of all works selected for digitisation to ask for permission; this process will be formally documented
  • NCVER will adopt and follow a formal procedure for responding to a copyright claimant
  • NCVER will, at the request of the copyright owner, withdraw any material from VOCEDplus if copyright has been inadvertently infringed
  • NCVER will provide a general copyright statement on the VOCEDplus web site.

If you hold rights over material included in VOCEDplus and wish it to be removed, please contact us, stating your name, the rights you hold, and the material affected. We will then offer you two options:

  1. clearing copyright to retain the material in VOCEDplus; or
  2. requesting that the digital object be removed from public view.

NCVER's document delivery service

NCVER provides a document delivery service to its users under the following conditions of Section 49 of the Australian Copyright Act (1968):

  1. The copy must be used for the purpose of research or study and must not be used for any other purpose. Copies supplied cannot be stored in electronic repositories or made freely available via the Internet.
  2. The user must not have previously been supplied with a copy of the same article/other work - or the same part of the article or other work, by an authorised officer of the library.
  3. The Australian Copyright Act allows the copying of a reasonable portion from a book or a periodical. In practical terms, this means that it is prohibited to copy more than one article from the same issue of a periodical, unless the articles are for the same research or course of study. Similarly, it is not permitted to copy more than one article, or 10 per cent (whichever is greater) from a book.
