General policy of international organizations in promoting NGO activity in diverse fields including technical and vocational education

This paper examines the history of relations between UNESCO and nongovernmental organisations (NGOs). In particular, the paper reflects on a period of reform in the United Nations (UN) and on the effects of the new directives adopted by the UN in 1995. These directives define the internal structures required of NGOs in order to qualify for official relations with UNESCO and specify particular areas of cooperation that UNESCO wishes to encourage.
