Understanding why we lose language learners

Adult part-time language courses are receiving increasing attention in the UK. Further education (FE) courses, now being market-led, need to attract funding. Consequently, it is important to understand why students withdraw. This article, based on research of part-time adult language students in the south west of England, looks at reasons behind students dropping-out and makes suggestions to improve retention.
