Perspectives on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education

Neglect of the educational needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students by mainstream education in Australia has led to low rates of success and high drop out rates, which then have contributed to the continuing exclusion of indigenous students from higher education and from better opportunities in life. This book provides guidance to teachers and student teachers in participating in bringing about the changes to education necessary for indigenous students if they are going to succeed in school at the same rates as other students in Australia.
