Educational needs of rural women

This small research project's proposal was to research the educational needs of isolated rural women with a view to developing and trialling appropriate learning packages that effectively utilise the satellite technology newly available at the Sunraysia College of TAFE.

The project assumed that rural women would embrace the opportunities for their further education and training through the use of the recently installed satellite dishes at the outreach centres established by the Sunraysia College of TAFE.

It was found that for these women, satellite technology was not the appropriate medium. However, it is untested as to whether this variable (satellite technology) is the influencing factor, or whether a combination of other variables (i.e. increase in fees, course reductions, rural downturn, costs associated with satellite delivery) influenced the responses of the participant audience.
