Vocational training in a prison environment
The proposals outlined in this document relate to the coordination of prison industries and vocational training in prisons. Data is presented which suggest that training programs unconnected to labour market opportunities may make little difference to employment and recidivism outcomes. However where training programs engage prisoner participation and give hope of future employment they are more likely to be successful.
