Work experience: a critique of current practices and directions for program development
The paper aims to: place in some perspective the role of work experience as a 'transition aid' and its role as a job selection mechanism; provide a critique of work experience programs that typically operate in secondary schools; provide and overview or framework that indicates the main purposes of work experience programs; and indicate the kinds of development that work experience programs ought to be exploring.
