The project reported here looked at a sample of training courses aimed at small business and discussed whether small business has embraced a training culture. As well, the role of women in small business is highlighted. It is suggested that there is an economic case to be made for ensuring that partners in small business have access to opportunities for skill acquisition, but that women have traditionally been under-represented in formal training opportunities. The report examined initiatives that have been undertaken to facilitate training for women in small business, pointing out that many of the strategies and issues have relevance for small business in general.
