The history of Aboriginal adult education in Canada is narrated chronologically in three sections: before colonization, during colonization, and after 1952. Aboriginal is the currently accepted political term to include all persons who are First Nations, Metis and Inuit. Aboriginal adult education includes literacy education, career preparation, parenting courses, community development skills, life skills, Aboriginal language education, academic upgrading, trades training, post-secondary entrance preparation, and drug and alcohol awareness and support groups.
